Bitcoin hits 2-month low on election uncertainty, Mt Gox flows

Bitcoin slid to a two-month low on Thursday, extending a month-long fall, as uncertainty over U.S. presidential elections and reports of bitcoin supply from a defunct Tokyo-based crypto exchange weighed.

Bitcoin fell more than 2% to $57,843, its lowest since May 2, and has lost more than 6% so far this week.

Indian IT stocks have outperformed the Nifty 50 by 10% over the last month, says JP Morgan.
JPM notes IT stocks are trading at upper end of valuation bands, building hopes for better prints, bottoming earnings.
The recent rally means (Q1) misses/meets could be faded significantly and there is a higher bar on beats.
Still JPM expects “minor improvement” in Q1 due to large deals, seasonal strength; does not expect forecast upgrades.
Expect growth improvement in large-caps, led by 2% growth in Infosys and LTI Mindtree.
Expects TCS margins to contract due to wage hikes and INFY’s to sharply expand on client provision reversal.
Says mid-caps to show greater growth disparity, margin decline.
JPM’s top picks: Infosys, TCS, LTI Mindtree, Persistent Systems and KPIT Technologies.
Top avoids: Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Cyient, Mphasis and Coforge.

Gold pushes to 2-week high as weak data fuels US rate cut bets

Gold prices retreated slightly on Thursday, remaining close to a two-week peak achieved in the previous session. The dip followed softer-than-expected U.S. economic data, raising speculation that the Federal Reserve might initiate interest rate cuts by September. Spot gold edged down 0.1% to $2,353.14 per ounce as of 0637 GMT, having reached its highest level since June 21 in the previous session. Meanwhile, U.S. gold futures declined by 0.3% to $2,363.10.

Oil falls on concerns of weaker demand forecasts, slowing U.S. economy

Oil prices declined in Asia on Thursday as investors exercised caution amid expectations of reduced demand. Weaker-than-expected U.S. employment and business data suggested a potential cooling of the economy for the world’s leading oil consumer.

Brent crude futures dropped 48 cents to $86.86 per barrel, a decrease of 0.55%. Similarly, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell 51 cents to $83.36 per barrel, marking a 0.62% decline. Trading activity was subdued due to the U.S. Independence Day holiday.
