S&P 500 hits record high on Netflix, chip stocks boost
The benchmark index hit an intraday record high for the third time in less than a week, fueling a bull-market run it confirmed on Friday after closing at an all-time high.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 69.92 points, or 0.18%, at the open to 37,975.37. The S&P 500 opened higher by 23.96 points, or 0.49%, at 4,888.56, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 134.67 points, or 0.87%, to 15,560.61 at the opening bell.

Oil rises towards $80 as China announces stimulus
Oil rose slightly on Wednesday, with Brent trading near $80 a barrel, as a Chinese economic stimulus package and geopolitical tensions were countered by concerns over tepid demand and a stronger dollar. The front-month March contract for Brent crude was up 40 cents to $79.95 a barrel at 1410 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was up 57 cents to $74.94 a barrel.

Nifty forms bullish piercing candle. What traders should do on Thursday expiry
Nifty on Wednesday ended 215 points higher to form a bullish piercing line candle on the daily chart and was placed at the hurdle of mid part of Tuesday’s long bear candle at 21,500 level. The short-term trend of Nifty seems to have reversed up, but the uncertainty remains in the market at the highs. The market could encounter strong resistance around 21,500-21,600 levels in the coming session. Immediate support is at 21,220 level, said Nagaraj Shetti of HDFC Securities.

TVS Motor Company on Wednesday reported a 59% increase in its consolidated net profit to Rs 479 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2023, riding on the back of robust sales across markets. The company posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 301 crore in the October-December period of the last fiscal.

The Nifty exhibited volatility throughout the day following a weak start. On the hourly chart, the index began displaying initial signs of a reversal. However, it closed below the resistance level of 21500. A decisive move above 21500 could potentially trigger a significant rally in the index. On the downside, support is situated at 21400-21350. A confirmed breakthrough above 21500 may propel the index towards 21700 and beyond.

Hong Kong stocks bounce after PBOC announces RRR cut, China up
Hong Kong stocks clocked their best day in more than two months on Wednesday after China’s central bank said it will cut banks’ reserve ratio, a move expected to boost sentiment after a market meltdown earlier this week, while mainland stocks also bounced. Mounting hopes that Chinese authorities would come to the rescue of the battered market with more measures and news of Jack Ma scooping up Alibaba Group shares also lifted overall market sentiment. China A-shares closed higher, but before the reserve requirement ratio cuts were announced.

Stock Market LIVE Updates | Indian Bank Q3 profit surges 52 pc to Rs 2,119 crore
The public sector Indian Bank on Wednesday reported a 52 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 2,119 crore in the December quarter, on the back of improvements in core income and a reduction in bad loans. The Chennai-based lender had earned a net profit of Rs 1,396 crore in the same quarter a year ago.The operating profit of the bank was almost flat at Rs 4,097 crore as against Rs 4,061 crore in December 2022.
